Save Civic Stadium!

It looks like the project to save Eugene’s Historic Civic Stadium is gaining momentum since I last checked in on them. The eighth oldest minor league ballpark in the country is in Eugene, and unless there is some serious investment in renovations the stadium’s future is in jeopardy. Garden

Here are some winter pictures of my garden, all put to bed for winter, as well as my compost and my chickens. We’ve been enjoying gardening and expanding the growing space in our backyard over the past several years. Now, as solstice has passed and the days are (slowly) getting longer, I’m thinking about the garden again. This year; hops!

Chicken Wrangler

These are some pictures I took back in November of the little man wrangling the chickens. He has a lot of fun with them. We haven’t really had a good garden day since then, and I’m starting to really miss getting out in the weather and doing hard work. Maybe soon.

Toddler Toes

Arthur’s toes wiggle and press, scratch and explore everything. This is especially true when he’s thinking hard about something. When he’s concentrating it almost seems as though he’s trying to manipulate his environment by sheer force of will, and what’s scary is that sometimes I think he just might do it. I love his toes. I love the way his true feelings are always betrayed by them. I love how they’re still soft and babyish, but slowly and ever so surely becoming kid toes; scraped up, muddy, calloused.

Visit with the Greats

This Friday, my Grandparents Joe and Arlene came for a visit all the way from Ontario, Canada. They’re Arthur’s Great Grandparents, and we were very excited for their visit. The three of them hit it off very well, and we all had a wonderful time chatting and catching up. This is a picture of all of them.

Arthur is doing wonderfully well. We just went to see the Doctor, and he officially weighs more than 20 pounds. He’s a happy healthy boy. He loves Strawberries – and we just planed a whole patch so that he can have fresh ones every summer. It won’t be long now before he crawls. He’s up on his hands and knees, rocking, taking a few steps at a time. We’ve got our living space 90% prepared for a crawling baby. I’m certain that there are some things we’ve forgotten, and when the boy starts getting into them we’ll know what they are.
